About Apetite Cafe

Bright morning light filters through the windows of a cozy yet modest spot embraced by the lively streets of Copacabana. The ambiance leans toward a casual charm, where chatter and the clink of coffee cups blend seamlessly. While the staff offers friendly attention, occasionally the pace falters during busier hours, a detail worth noting for those mindful of time. A glance through Apetite Cafe photos available online reveals an appealing simplicity that matches the unpretentious atmosphere, neither dazzling nor dull.

Unexpected textures and balanced flavors emerge as highlights across the menu, where classic Brazilian fare meets the approachable spirit of a neighborhood cafe. The pastries, particularly the pão de queijo, stand out with their airy consistency and subtle cheesiness, while the coffee delivers a solid, though not exceptional, experience for those seeking a local brew. Though reviews vary widely in tone, many appreciate how the menu skillfully combines quality with reasonable pricing, making it a feasible choice for casual visits and light meals without the fuss of extensive fine dining.

Taking a broader perspective, the Apetite Cafe restaurant finds itself weaving tradition and contemporary preferences in a space that’s neither overly polished nor overly rustic. The balance between casual and deliberate offers a comfortable, if sometimes unremarkable, venue for a routine stop or a modest exploratory visit. While it may not feature heavily in widely circulated critics’ picks, the establishment garners consistent mention in local circles, its presence quietly sustained by those drawn to the familiar and straightforward. This helps frame it as a practical option rather than a gastronomic destination.

Had a nice family breakfast. Staff very friendly and accommodating, organizing some space for us. Food is good - with a special mention to the delicious croissants.

Very good place for breakfast! Their breakfast for two people actually serves up to four if you add extra juices/coffee. Keep in mind that it gets very busy, specially on weekends so try to arrive early, service can be a bit slow if it’s too crowded but it’s worth the wait!

I go here every time I’m in Rio for the best breakfast. High quality food at good value. Went yesterday, not been for 5 years, and the waitress remembered me! No, I don’t have two heads. Well worth a visit. 10/10 Here again, a year later! Everything exactly the same- delicious as always. Back in Rio. First morning and breakfast had to be at Apetite. Fresh hot croissant, coffee and tapioca com queijo. Delicious. Aline (waitress) recognised us and gave us a hug- just like old friends. You cant get better service anywhere. If in Copacabana area you must go here for breakfast.

WOWWWWW I will dream about this meal forever & always. We showed up for a late breakfast and had to wait a bit for a table for 4 (like 20 min). It was so worth it! The complete breakfast was more than complete - it had a bread basket, fresh papaya, eggs, ham, cheese, and jam, along with coffee. We splurged and got some cake, too. Highly recommend. Wish I had gotten a chocolate croissant because they looked SO good but I was so full after eating that I couldn’t even look at any food for a few hours. It’s got a cute set-up tucked into a neighborhood and yet still super close to the beaches. Beautiful plants all over the street make it a delicious tropical oasis in the middle of the city. Seriously, 5 stars!!!

Good cappuccino for an affordable price. I was happy to get a real coffee and not some sweet flavoured powder as in other coffee shops in Brazil

Over the course of 2 weeks we went to Apetite Cafe 10 times. It’s great for breakfast or lunch. Everything is good and fresh and the ambiance feels very European! We don’t speak Portuguese and none of their staff spoke English but some Google translate and pointing at the menu did the trick. For a family of 5 this was an affordable option that did not disappoint. The baked goods and coffee are amazing! Best croissant ever.
